Everything About God is Fire!
God is never described in the Bible as an iceberg or glacier. You never see HIm with icicles hanging off His robe or beard. He is not a 45 degrees below zero God!
Everything about God is fire! He is a burning, passionate, pure, and holy God. Whatever He does is the exact opposite of the passivity and lukewarmness that you see prevalent in society today, He is not a tepid God.
Father is described in the New Testament this way, “For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29 Consuming? He consumes everything that has its origin in our enemy. Confusion, carnality, deception, disease, He burns and consumes all that is not righteous, pure, and holy.
You may ask, How do I dwell with He who is a consuming fire? Isaiah 33:14 Don’t fear the fire! Plunge in with your whole being. Fully embrace it. Let it ignite you and become as your Father is – on fire!
Notice your Father’s resurrected Son Jesus as HE appears before John on the Isle of Patmos. “His eyes like a flame of fire, His feet as if refined in a furnace, His countenance like the sun shining in it’s strength.” Revelation 1:14-16 Jesus is just like His Daddy – on fire from head to foot! He desires to baptize each one of His followers with fire. Fire produces power, generates energy, and supplies perseverance. He wants you to be ignited, stay on fire, and carry a red hot Gospel to everyone you meet! A fire-less Gospel is not true to God’s nature.
On the Day of Pentecost each believer was ignited by the Third Person of the trinity Who is also fire. He placed a fiery head band on every one of them and started a fire in their lives that was never to go out. We are never to quench the Spirit – never to extinguish His fire in our midst. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are all on fire and they want us to start fires wherever we go.
Aren’t His angels flames of fire? Hebrews 1:7 “Is not My Word like a fire?, says the Lord?” Jeremiah 23:29 The prophet Jeremiah said God’s Word was like a fire combusting in his bones! In the Book named after him, Jeremiah uses the word “fire” 42 times.
Fire is often associated with the manifest presence of the Lord. The sight of (the glory of the Lord) was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain. Exodus 24:17 I firmly believe we can walk on this earth with a never-ending fire burning inside us on the altars of our hearts. If we will simply yield ourselves and present ourselves moment by moment, His fire will always burn bright within us. “A perpetual fire shall burn on the altar; it shall never go out.” Leviticus 6:13 “Be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11 (Ampl.)
That fire repels the attacks of the enemy, wards off sickness/disease and purifies the very atmosphere around us!
Let’s all desire the fire and spend our lives in such a way that we see this great desire of our Lord Jesus come to pass in our generation. Listen how Super Passionate our Lord is about this! “I’ve come to start a fire on this earth – how I wish it were blazing right now. I’ve come to change everything, turn everything right-side up – how I long for it to be finished.” Luke 12:49 (The Message)
